L'Oreal Infallible 24-Hour Matte Foundation

L'Oreal Infallible 24-Hour Matte Foundation
Now I'm not normally one to pick up a hyped product at the peak of it's popularity, but there's something about the L'Oreal Infallible 24-Hour Matte Foundation that I couldn't wait to get my hands on a tube.  Have my oily skinned prayers been finally answered?  Here's what I thought of it.

When it comes to foundation, the last place I usually go is the drugstore.  Not because I'm a snob but as a very pale person, I find it almost impossible to find a shade for my skintone.  This time I bought blindly armed with Boots points and I could hardly believe 10 Porcelain actually worked for me, maybe even a little too pale for me actually!

As an oily skinned person, matte foundations are usually aimed at us but it's actually something I've avoided since the days of dream matte mousse.  While it didn't seem nearly as unpleasant as I had expected, it did still feel a little heavier than I was used to.  Though I suppose that's the price you pay for a long wearing foundation.

After a little experimenting, I found this was best applied with fingers to warm up the product.  Brushes love to eat this stuff up and before you know it you've piled on a thick layer of product you didn't really need.

If I had any criticisms I would say that this does not work with dry skin.  Any sign of dryness (even if you're oily) shows up flaky so you definitely need some exfoliator and some seriously good moisturiser to make this work to it's full potential.

As for the 24 hour claim, I don't tend to wear makeup for that long but it's staying power has definitely impressed me.  In the house I could easily go without using powder but if I'm out and about, I would still need a little around the T-zone.

So is the L'Oreal Infallible 24-Hour Matte Foundation worth the hype? Definitely, but with my longing for a medium finish that doesn't feel too heavy, it won't be replacing my NARS Sheer Glow anytime soon.  However, for £6.99 it's an absolute bargain.
