Going Sulfate Free with Ojon

Ojon Colour Sustain Pro Fade Fighter Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner
Something I've always wanted to try is sulfate-free shampoo.  Last year when I decided to revamp my skincare I cut out all traces of sulfates and I've never looked back.  For the past few months I've been trying out the Ojon Colour Sustain Pro Fade Fighter Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner and lets just say, it's a total game changer.

To explain in the simplest of terms, sulfates are an ingredient found in many of our everyday items from shampoo, face wash, dish soap, toothpaste.. basically if it has a foaming quality it's likely that it contains some form of sulfate.  So why are they bad you ask? They strip your skin and hair from it's natural oils, likely resulting in the need to use these products more frequently.  In haircare terms, this can cause the hair to become frizzy, oily and you'll find your hair colour won't last nearly as long.

Now I've experimented with cleansing conditioners but I always found that they didn't have the same clean feeling as those with sulfates do so I felt that I needed something in the middle.  Cleansing enough that my hair feels clean but not doing more damage than necessary.

I decided to try out the Ojon Colour Sustain Pro Fade Fighter Sulfate-Free Shampoo & Conditioner straight after using my normal hair dye I always use to see how the results compared.  What I found is that not only did my hair colour last for months longer than it usually would, my hair felt much healthier and could actually last longer than a day between washes.  To me, that is pretty impressive.

Now as impressive as the range is, at £18.50 for just the shampoo alone, it's far too expensive for my budget to be buying it every time my shampoo runs out.  Having said that, it has lasted much longer than my other shampoos and if I did have the money to spend, I would 100% repurchase this.  What it has made me realise is that there are other options available and to think about the ingredients used in my products.  I'm hoping that within time, this sulfate-free movement will catch on like argan oil and will encourage budget brands to follow in their footsteps.

Have you considered going sulfate free?
