Sunday Life #1 Brig O'Turk Tea Room

afternoon tea A weekend day off is a very rare occurrence in the retail world, so when I had a Sunday off a couple of weeks ago me and my man decided to escape from Glasgow for the day and head to Callander. Now, if your a regular around here then you'll know all about my love affair with tea, throw in some delicious home baking and the cutest crockery I've ever seen and we just about have my idea of heaven, complete with some very good company of course.

afternoon tea On route to our destination we decided to stop off at the Brig O'Turk Tearoom, which from the outside embodies everything you'd expect a traditional tearoom to be. Originally opened in 1923 this quaint little tea place might look a little vintage (which I love) but it has a surprisingly modern and sophisticated menu. Sadly we were only stopping off for some tea and home baking, but I am very keen to return to sample the evening menu.

afternoon tea As we were welcomed in the sweet smell of baking surrounded us, sparking our sweet tooth's, we sat and eyed up the array of treats available like two big kids in a sweetie shop. We both opted for tea, with a traditional Scone for me and a slice of Hungarian Layer Cake for him. The presentation was beautiful and our cakes were delicious, the atmosphere was so peaceful and warm, I could have sat there all day looking out into the beautiful scenery which engulfs the place.

You can check out the menu over on their website, I would definitely recommend popping in if you are ever passing by, it was such a lovely way to spend an afternoon. I will most definitely be making much more of a habbit of going out for tea, suggestions for places a little closer to home are very welcome.
