Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara

Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara

One of my favourite makeup items to try is mascara.  I love seeing how brands create new brush designs and it's still a mystery to me how it can transform my lashes and really frame the face.  Over the years I'd stuck with my trusty high end mascaras after bad experiences with budget brands but there seems to have been a complete quality improvement that I'm constantly lurking around Boots to choose the perfect budget mascara.  Bourjois have recently came out with their new Volume 1 Seconde Mascara which promises to be the perfect match and balance between formula and brush so here's how I got on with it.

The mascara wand is a flexible, plastic wand that I'd say is similar in size to the Benefit They're Real Mascara.  The difference in this brush however is the little spherical bristles which were inspired by the professional round hairbrushes you see.  The reason for this is while the normal bristles separate and lengthen the lashes, the spheres add more product to the lash, thus creating more volume.

My mascara preferences usually fall under lengthening, smudge proof and a liquidy formula.  The formula is a little thicker than I'd usually go for but I find that gives more volume to the lashes without appearing clumpy.  Although this is the non-waterproof version, I found it really long lasting throughout the day and it never seemed to smudge or flake at all.  It claims to last for 16 hours and the waterproof version 24 hours which I'd agree with so it's really just personal preference as they both last for a really long time.  I've provided a swatch on my eyes but as usual, my hooded eyes never give great pictures of eye products but I promise you it looks 10x better than this photo!

Overall it's a really impressive mascara and the results are what I'd usually expect from a high end mascara.  As it launched in May you can pick it up in Boots for an introductory price of £7.99 (usually £9.99).
