New Fragrances From Diptyque

Diptyque Geranium Odorata and Diptyque Eau de Lavande

I'm always on the lookout for some new and interesting when it comes to fragrance and Diptyque is the place to go for such things.  Whenever Diptyque come out with a new fragrance, it's always something to be excited about.  This month they've added to the Les Florales collection with two new fragrances: Eau de Lavande and Geranium Odorata.  Here's what you can expect from these two scents.

Now I'm not the biggest fan of lavender but Eau de Lavande redefines everything you've ever thought about the scent.  If you're looking for something pretty unusual, this is it.  Although Diptyque scents are unisex, I'd say this one is much more masculine.  You can definitely smell the lavender coming through but it has a sort of spicy undertone to it, the lavender is definitely toughened up.  It uses three different kinds of lavender including Provencal, Vaucluse and Valansole to make it more unique.  The spicy aspect is made up of coriander seeds, nutmeg and cinnamon but I'd say the coriander is probably more prominent than the rest.  Admittedly, it's not the kind of scent I would wear as it's a little too tough for my taste.  However, props to Diptyque for making one of the most interesting scents I've ever come across.

While Eau de Lavande wasn't quite my taste, I can definitely get on board with Geranium Odorata.  My scent choices tend to fall under a light floral everyday scent and this is exactly it.  In a way it reminds me of L'Ombre dans L'eau in the sense of walking into a blossoming garden in the Spring but Geranium Odorata is much lighter.  It contains a blend of two types of geranium: African Geranium from Egypt and Bourbon Geranium from Reunion Island which makes it slightly more woody.  In addition we also have bergamot, green cardamon, cedar, tonka bean, pink pepper-corns and Haitian vetiver.  I'd definitely wear this scent but I wouldn't say its my favourite Diptyque scent.  Out of the scents I currently own I'd say it comes before L'Ombre dans L'eau but Olene and Vetyverio are slightly better based on my choice of scent.

I'd definitely recommend checking them out and trying a little sample next time you're at Space NK.  They're available to purchase now and are priced at £65 for 100ml and £32 for 20ml.
