Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks in 02 Frambourjois (£8.99, Boots)

It's been a long time since I've been excited about a new makeup release but I knew I couldn't resist the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks.  To avoid potential disappointment, I picked up only one shade to try but it's safe to say, I'll be heading back for more.

If you haven't heard of the new range, they're basically liquid lipsticks/lip stains which seem to be all the rage at the moment.  While most lip stains offer longevity, in my experience some aren't so comfortable to wear which is one of the main things I look for.  Who wants sore/dry lips?  Well I'm glad to report that the Bourjois version glides onto the lips so effortlessly.

The shade I went for was 02 Frambourjois, which is a gorgeous deep pink/red shade.  I did contemplate picking up a red shade but I felt I'd get more wear out of this kind of shade.  As you can see it's very vibrant and adds a real contrast against my skintone even just with one coat!

Although the packaging claims a matte finish, I find it goes on quite glossy at first but then settles down into a more matte shade which is why it looks more glossy here.  Not quite full matte but somewhere in the middle.

I probably won't be putting the 24 hour claim to the test but I can say this stuff does not budge at all.  I could be drinking multiple cups of tea during the day and the colour is just as vibrant as when I applied it.  Though make sure you have a pretty good makeup remover or else this stuff is staying put.

Overall, the Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks definitely live up to the hype.  Compared to other liquid lipsticks such as the Lush Emotional Brilliance range or the Sleek Matte Me's I would definitely say this is my favourite formula.  I think I need to plan another trip to Boots for more!
