The Beauty Anti-Comfort Zone

Fake Bake's Flawless Self-Tan Liquid (£22.95).  Burberry's Lip Glow Natural Lip Gloss in Fondant Pink (£18.50, John Lewis). Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner (£5.49, Boots)

Now as much as I love beauty, there are a few products which are a little bit out of my comfort zone.  Things that I've tried and failed at or those of which I've made a premature judgement on so now it's about time I see what I could be missing out on.  On the top of my beauty anti-comfort zone list? Fake tan, lipgloss and liquid eyeliner.

My first experience with fake tan wasn't the best.  For some reason I thought the best place to get fake tan was in a £2 beauty kit in what I can only describe as a face wipe soaked in fake tan solution.  Not off to a good start are we?  It's safe to say the streaky legs and orange hand look didn't quite catch on.  Now I'm older and wiser I've been a little more cautious with my fake tan choices and the first one I ever tried and liked was the WOW Brown Light/Medium Tanning Lotion which left me with a gorgeous natural light tan.  Now that I've mastered the art of light tanning, I thought it was about time I try something a little more daunting in the form of Fake Bake's Flawless Self-Tan Liquid which promises a luxurious golden bronze shade.  I'll report back on this one, wish me luck!

Next on my list is lipgloss.  It might be surprising to hear but I only own a single lipgloss in my makeup collection in the form of Burberry's Lip Glow Natural Lip Gloss in Fondant Pink.. go big or go home eh?  Now don't get me wrong, I love the look of lip gloss but it all comes down to the formula.  In Scotland where you can get rain, wind, sun and snow all in the same day it just doesn't sound too appealing to have my hair stick to my gloss everytime I leave the house.  In Fondant Pink's defence, it is a really lovely lipgloss which applies very well over a nude lip but I think I'll be keeping it for nights out.  I've heard of these mysterious lipglosses which promises a non sticky finish so if you know where to find them, please send the link my way!

Now the most scary and difficult of them all.. liquid eyeliner.  It's the one thing I can't ever get right and makes me feel like a poor excuse of a beauty blogger.  I can remember the one single time when I drew a perfect line on one eyelid and of course, never could replicate it on the opposite side.   I'd always tried to convince myself that maybe I just didn't suit it but it wasn't until our recent Rimmel photoshoot where Lisa applied the Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner on me that I realised I really loved the look.  This one's going to take time and practise but I plan to be an eyeliner expert in the near future...maybe.

What's in your beauty anti-comfort zone?
