Winter Makeup Bag

Winter Makeup Bag with NARS, Bobbi Brown, Collection, Barry M, Clinique
Every new season I try to mix things up a little and change out my makeup bag to try out products more suited for the weather.  Last month we seen Lisa’s Autumn Makeup Bag picks and now it’s time for my winter edit.  A natural, radiant base and dark glossy shades with a hint of red and green for the festive season.

As I have oily skin, my usual base is pretty matte so to inject some life back into my skin I’ve been using the Simple Kind To Skin+ Illuminating Radiance Cream* in place of a moisturiser.  Not only does it give the skin a lovely glow, it contains SPF 15, a mix of skin loving vitamins and is kind to sensitive skin so it really does help protect against the cold weather.

For foundation my base hasn’t changed, I’m still loving my NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Mont Blanc.  Being so pale there aren’t very many options out there for me to choose from but Sheer Glow gives me a lovely natural finish and in my opinion, works for every season whether it be hot or cold.

I tend to use two concealers for everyday makeup, one for my dark under eye circles and one for blemishes.  On normal days I’ll use my trusty Benefit Fakeup Concealer* which is a peachy toned concealer which cancels out the blue tones in my undereye area.  Though if I find I haven’t had enough sleep I’ll use the industrial strength concealer which is the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit to make me look more awake.  My concealer of choice is still Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer which covers blemishes effortlessly and I can see myself repurchasing it for a long time.

No need to carry around a ton of blushers or bronzers as I’ve been putting my NARS One Night Stand Palette to good use for the winter months.  I’ve discovered the wonder that is their Laguna Bronzer and been wearing it constantly to add a little definition and shape to my face.  Also in the palette I’ve been wearing the Deep Throat Blush during the day but in the evening I love wearing the Goulue Blush for a more dramatic look.

During the colder months I find my eyes tend to get quite watery from the cold so I need to use a waterproof mascara to make sure I don't have mascara running down my face.  The mini sample sized mascaras are my favourite so I’ve popped my Clinique High Impact Mascara into my makeup bag this season.  I’ve used this mascara for so many years and I don’t think I could find a mascara more reliable than this one.  As it’s the festive season, I’ve added a little pop of colour into my eye area with the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Rockstar.  It’s a gorgeous, dark purple shade which anyone can pull off and it’s subtle enough to use during the daytime.

After using my Eyelure Dybrow kit, my eyebrows have been fairly easy to fill in so I've been opting for my trusty old HD Brows Kit in Foxy to fill in any sparse areas.  Of course with all the snow and rain set to hit Scotland, powder alone tends to wear off quickly so I've been using my Eyeko Brow Gel to set my brows in place and I've been loving the results.

My red lipsticks have been seriously neglected this year and what better time to bring them out than winter? MAC’s Russian Red is an obvious contender but if I’m feeling a little less brave, Revlon’s Colourburst Lip Butter in Candy Apple will do the job.

To finish it all off, a dark glossy nail colour.  Green isn’t usually my choice of colour but as it’s almost Christmas, the Barry M Hi Shine Gelly Nail Paint in Watermelon couldn’t be more appropriate.  It’s a very dark, almost black shade with a super glossy finish so it’s perfect for a quick manicure.
