Autumn Make-Up Bag

Autumn Make-Up Bag

When it comes to make-up I’m usually a creature of a habit, rarely mixing things up. However, if there is one thing to ensure my make-up bag gets a little shake up it’s the start of a new season. You may remember Sami’s post on her Summer Make-up bag, and I can’t quite believe it’s now time for my Autumn offering. I've kept my products quite basic and easy to work with, as having a full time job leaves little room for overly experimental looks everyday, so here is what's taken pride of place in my make-up bag this season…

Revlon Colourstay Foundation in 150 Buff, Benefit Fakeup Concealer in 01 Light, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 03 Peach Glow

The pouch itself is from Urban Outfitters, I love changing make-up bags with the new season and I love the cute pom pom detailing of this one. It’s really roomy too and can easily be thrown in the washing machine if things get a little messy (I’m looking at you crumbled face powder)

Starting with my base, this season I’m keeping it simple with my beloved Revlon Colourstay Foundation (150 Buff) this is my third bottle and I really can’t see anything tempting me away from this anytime soon. Build able coverage, a matte finish and really long lasting, what more could you want? As the weather turns cooler my skin can get a little dry in certain areas so this season I’m switching to my Benefit Fakeup Concealer* (01 Light) to offer a little extra hydration whilst still covering up any problem areas or dark circles. Finally my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (03 Peach Glow) keeps everything matte and adds a little bit more colour to my face. This really is the best face powder I’ve ever tried and it’s so inexpensive and long lasting, I’d recommend this to anyone!

Pur Minerals Mineral Glow and Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush in 10 Hydrangea Pink

Recently, I’ve really gotten into the habit of contouring my face every day and adding a subtle glow, the Pur Minerals Mineral Glow* is intended as an all over face warmer, but as I’m so pale it’s a really good contour shade for me, and a light dusting over the high points of my face leaves my complexion looking warm and bright too. I’m pairing this with the beautiful Burberry Light Glow Natural Blush* (10 Hydrangea Pink). I think this is the perfect blush shade for Autumn, it’s such a rich berry toned pink that adds the most gorgeous glow to the face, and it smells amazing too!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Navy Blue, Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Noir, Laura Mercier Petite Eye Colour Trio in Smoky Neutrals, Urban Decay Eye Shadow, Pur Minerals Big Blink Mascara and Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel

I’d say the area I’m being most adventurous with this season is definitely my eyes. For my everyday liner look I’ve switched from my traditional black to this Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner* (Navy Blue). The navy shade is so much easier to wear than I thought and really brightens my eyes, I’ve been really loving creating a thick line with this and pairing it with a nude lip, it gives a really easy modern twist to the classic flicked liner look. On the days where I do want black liner I’ve been trying to embrace my Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer (261 Noir) again, this is just your traditional crayon style liner with a handy little smudger on the end. This worked into the lash line and then smudged out is a really cool effortless look. The Laura Mercier Petite Eye Colour Trio (Smoky Neutrals) has made it’s way back into my everyday makeup, mainly due to it’s handy size and perfect brown hues. The cream shade is the perfect lid neutraliser, and the two brown shades are perfect for an Autumn smoky eye. As the quality of the shadows are so good you don’t even need a brush to apply them, if I’m heading out after work a quick sweep of the darkest shade over my lid teamed with my black liner smudged out looks effortlessly chic. Finally if I’m going out for the night or wanting something a little more special then there isn’t a shadow more gorgeous than this in my entire collection I raved about one of these shadows back in my August Favourites. Of course I’m taking about the Urban Decay Eye Shadow* (Diamond Dog), to me this is perfection in a pan. A rich brown shade packed with lashing of sparkle, this sweeped over the eye and blended out is all you need to really make a statement this Autumn. For lashes and brows I’m staying loyal to my two favourites Pur Minerals Big Blink Mascara and Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil (002 Hazel) neither of these products will be budging from my makeup bag anytime soon.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nottinghill Nude, Avon Lipstick in Red Kiss, Neals Yard Remedies Lip Gloss in Goji Berry and MUA Colour Blast Eyeshadow Tint in Stay

For everyday lips it’s the usual Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick (720 Nottinghill Nude) I’m so close to finishing this up, but it shall no doubt be swiftly repurchased as it’s one of the only nude lipsticks that doesn’t wash my entire face out. And if I’m feeling glossy I’m trying out the Neals Yard Remedies Lip Gloss (62 Goji Berry) this is a nice rich shade that feels more like a balm than a gloss and really makes my lips look full and healthy. Obviously it wouldnt be an Autumn makeup bag without a berry lipstick, however I’m playing it safe and starting with a raspberry shade this year before I whip out my deeper tones later. This Avon Lipstick* (Red Kiss) is really moisturising and is such a flattering raspberry shade that is easy to wear day or night.

The final thing I’m trying to embrace is the MUA Colour Blast Eyeshadow Tint* (Stay). Now as a stand alone eye colour these really don’t cut it for me, however, I hate to see products go to waste and as this is such a neutral sheeny shade, I’ve discovered two uses for it. Number one, this is great for using as an eye base, powders really cling to the creamy formula and the subtle sheen is quite flattering. Number two, this is great used as an on the go highlighter (especially for cupid bows and inner corners) so is quite handy to have in your make-up bag.

So that is the contents of my make-up bag this Autumn, I’m enjoying embracing the little changes I’ve made, but if I’m being honest I’m even more excited to start embracing more festive make-up! Now where did I put that glitter…
