September Favourites

September Favourites

I can’t believe September is over already! For the past few years September is a very hectic month for us with going back to uni and starting our fashion design process with endless sketchbooks at our sides.  Now that we’ve graduated we’ve finally been able to enjoy the feeling of being free of education for the first time.  Sadly I haven't been very well during the month but I do have a couple of favourite products which have helped me feel a bit better in the transition from Summer to Autumn.

Around this time of the year, my oily skin starts to become very dry and dehydrated so I’ve been reaching for my Bioderma Hydrabio Moisturising Concentrate every morning to put the moisture back into my skin.  I have spoke about it in more detail but much like the way Hydraluron works, it basically enhances your moisturisers ability to sink into the skin.  Definitely a must have for Autumn/Winter.

I’ve been desperately trying to use up my Summer candles so I can finally break out my Diptyque sale finds but I still have quite a long way to go.  One candle I’ve been loving lately is the Yankee Candle in Turquoise Sky which is perfect for this time of year.  It has the same sort of scent you’d find at a spa, very relaxing and has a sort of ocean air scent to it.  It’s a scent which I think everyone would love and the large tumbler has lasted me many months.  I’ll be quite sad when this one runs out!

Keeping up with the blue theme, I’ve been wearing my Nails Inc Baker Street nail polish constantly this month.  Cobalt blue has been a very popular trend colour recently so it’s been a very easy colour to wear.  I think it’s one of those shades which looks amazing on everyone and the subtle neon aspect makes it really stand out against dark tones.  When I take off my nail polish tonight, I may have to reapply it.

My haircare routine has been quite simple this month but one product I use every time is the V05 Heat Protect Spray.  Before I started using it, I was using no heat protector on my hair at all and I’ve really noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair.  To me it seems a lot stronger and it definitely helps to add a little moisture back into my hair.  My hair seems to really get on with V05 products from their shampoo to their hair oils so if you’re looking for a new brand to try, I’d definitely give them a go.  I wasn’t so much of a fan of their Straightening Cream but everything else has been perfect.

I’ve always been so scared to try out a berry lip look but I’ve been wearing my Chantecaille Lip Chic in Heirloom Rose* at any opportunity I can get.  It’s one of those shades where you can apply it lightly for a more subtle look or straight on for a more dramatic look so it’s perfect as one of those day to night shades.  I recently took an allergic reaction to a toothpaste which made my lips swell up so I haven’t been able to wear lipstick as much as I like but I’m really looking forward to putting this on when I’m all better!

Last but not least is the Dirty Works Body Butter in Coconut Caress* which I’ve been loving lately.  As it’s still sort of in the transition from Summer to Autumn, I’ve found my usual Body Shop Coconut Body Butter to be a little too heavy so Dirty Works offering has been perfect for this time of year.  It’s a lightweight body moisturiser which you can easily apply all over your skin and smells absolutely amazing.  I’ve also noticed that it takes hardly any time at all to sink into the skin so I never have to wait about for it to dry.  If you found the Body Shop’s offering a little too heavy but loved the coconut scent, definitely give this a try.

Quite a nice mix of products for this month!  My makeup routine has been pretty simple throughout Summer so I’m definitely looking forward to experimenting with all the dark shades of eyeshadow and lipstick over the next few months so if you have any recommendations, please let me know!  We’ve really enjoyed getting back into the whole favourites thing and plan to do it every month so make sure you look out for Lisa’s October favourites next time.
