Concealer Favourites

Benefit Fakeup, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Clinique Airbrush Concealer and Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer

When I’m applying my makeup, I like to have a variety of concealers to choose from.  I’m not saying you need 4 different kinds each time you apply your makeup but if I’m having a particularly bad/good skin day, I reach for the products which work best for my skin at the time.  I've narrowed it down to 4 of my favourite concealers in my collection and here’s what I use them for.

The Benefit Fake Up Concealer* is the newest one in my makeup collection and I’ve been using it everyday since getting it.  This kind of concealer is best for under your eyes.  It has a sort of peachy/orange undertone which is great for cancelling out blue tones around your eyes.  Also the hydrating ring makes it really easy to blend to avoid it looking cakey around the eyes.  It doesn’t give amazing coverage for blemishes so keep that in mind if that’s your main priority.

If I’m having quite a good skin day, I’ll reach for the Clinique Airbrush Concealer to fix any minor imperfections.  I used to rely on this concealer and buy it in bulk as I’d always be scared I’d run out.  It’s one of those concealers which blends into your skin and with your foundation perfectly.  It never seems to leave a trace or have a cakey finish.  As it’s so creamy it applies really well under the eyes too but I prefer having a little more coverage there.  The coverage is definitely buildable but if you have any dark spots or dark acne scarring you might want to go for something a little heavier.

Of course I had to include the holy grail of all concealers, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.  The packaging on mine is looking a little worse for wear but it’s still going strong.  This one is a great all rounder for under eyes and blemishes and has a sort of medium coverage to it.  It’s definitely my go to concealer for any pesky blemishes I have.  One thing I would be careful about is how much you use as sometimes it does have a bit of a cakey appearance if not blended out right so make sure you really buff it into the skin.  It’s also very affordable so it’s the perfect excuse to stock up on it!

If I wake up to a bad breakout and find that nothing else is working, I reach for my Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer to work it’s magic.  This stuff is pretty high coverage so it will conceal pretty much anything.  Dark under eye circles, bad blemishes, scars, you name it.  I have the concealer kit here but I’d recommend getting the single concealer as the yellow powder isn’t all that special. To get the best use out of this product, it’s essential to make sure you’ve moisturised your face well before using or else it can look cakey and unnatural but if you do your skin will look amazing!  It might look pretty small but a little definitely goes a long way.  If you like a higher coverage but find this one’s too hard to work with, an alternative is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer is a lot more creamy.

If I had to narrow it down, I'd say my most concealers used for everyday makeup are the Benefit Fake Up and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealers.  I definitely find having a variety means I use what I need most at the time instead of wearing a high coverage concealer everyday when it’s not needed.  Let me know what your favourite concealers are and how you use them.
