John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Collection

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Collection

Our graduation from university is days away and to save myself from looking back at the pictures regretting my hairstyle, I decided to ditch the blonde highlights and go back to my trusty dark brunette shade.  Of course now I have to ditch all the blonde lightening hair care products (which my mum has been happy to take off my hands) and switch to a brunette alternative and the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette range* has been keeping my hair colour looking vibrant for the big day.

I tend to be quite picky with Shampoo and Conditioners but these two tick all the boxes.  The Multi-Tone Revealing Shampoo has a brown clearish liquid texture which foams like a dream making it easy to wash out and the Enhancing Conditioner is light but moisturising and leaves my hair feeling so soft and silky when I’ve rinsed it out.  One thing I’ve also noticed is that if I’m feeling a bit lazy and leave my hair to dry naturally, it never turns into a huge frizzball but instead it softens my curls for a lovely natural wavy texture which I’ve never came across before.

Two additional products to the Brilliant Brunette range are the Liquid Shine Perfecting Glosser and Fixing Shine Maximum Hold Hairspray.  I usually stay away from heavy products or serums but as long as you use a very small amount, the Liquid Shine product is very easy to work with.  Although it’s in the Brilliant Brunette range, the product is clear so if you have lighter hair it should be fine.  You basically take a pea sized amount and smooth it onto soaking wet hair, concentrating on the ends and then dry your hair.  I like to put it on the ends of my hair then use my tangle teezer to distribute the product more evenly.  As for the Fixing Shine Maximum Hold Hairspray, I expected it to be like a sort of brown dry shampoo colour but it’s also clear.  I usually go for a firm hold rather than maximum hold but the mist is so fine that it barely feels like I’m wearing any hairspray at all.  It’s safe to say I’ll be armed with this hairspray on the big day.
