Umberto Giannini Frizzi Range

Umberto Giannini Frizzi Range

I’ve been a fan of Umberto Giannini products long before my beauty obsession began.  I remember recieving a set of the Sleek & Chic range for christmas and all the other haircare I had were cast aside.  My favourite out of the range was the Sleek & Chic Blow Dry Cream but on recent trips to Boots it was nowhere to be seen.  In a moment of panic that my favourite styling product had been discontinued, I contacted Umberto Giannini and it turns out the range has been reformulated and repackaged into the Frizzi* range, hurray!  The lovely people at Umberto Giannini offered to send over the product and imagine my surprise when the full range arrived at my door!  For the past few weeks I've been testing out each of the products in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner to help you decide which styling product from the range will suit you best.

From my experience with the Sleek & Chic range, the Bad Hair Day Smoothing Shampoo and Make My Day Smoothing Conditioner are exactly the same.  They even have the same gorgeous scent which made me fall in love with the range.  If you haven't tried them before, the Bad Hair Day Shampoo is a lightweight liquid which lathers really well and doesn't leave any build up on the hair.

The Make My Day Conditioner is also really easy to wash out of your hair and it leaves your hair with the gorgeous scent after washing.  My only gripe is with the packaging as the shampoo comes out quite fast so I find I have to be careful or else I'll end up using the whole bottle too quickly.  As for the conditioner bottle, the problem is opposite as the conditioner is harder to get out of the bottle so this stuff will last forever it seems!

I’m a big fan of styling sprays so I was really looking forward to trying the Rebel Without The Course Dramatic Results Styling Spray.  I have very thick, wavy hair which gets very tangled so I always look for products to ease the process.  I’m not sure it makes a really dramatic difference but I’ll take any help I can get when detangling my hair.  I think one of the downfalls is the packaging as the sprayer shoots straight on and the product doesn’t distribute widely so it’s hard to get an overall application.  Having said that, someone with shorter hair might find that better.  It definitely adds extra softness to the hair but I think theres better products in the range.

Usually when I've just coloured my hair (recently just went back to dark brown for my graduation) I love to use hair masks to put the moisture back into my fragile hair.  The Frizzi Intense Recovery Mask is a really thick hair mask that makes your hair feel like silk, even after you’ve dried your hair.  I have to say, it made my hair so soft that my fringe was a nightmare to style before my haircut so I’d recommend using it a few days before an event or special occasion if you don’t like your hair to be too soft.  An added bonus is that it’s packed full of the amazing scent which will last ages on your hair too.

I’ve lost count of how many Argan Oil products I’ve tried, it’s like the BB cream of the haircare world.  The Miracle Worker With Argan Oil probably has the least descriptive name of the range but it’s definitely one of my favourites.  It’s a silky soft liquid which you apply to damp hair before drying.  With the consistency of it I’d say its about the same thickness level of Mythic Oil, maybe even lighter.  The more frizzier your hair means the more you can put on, though I usually stay safe with 2 pumps.  I found overall that it really suited my routine and I could easily use more products with it without weighing my hair down.

I’ve never been a fan of serums so I didn’t really expect me and the Transformation Fluid Silicone Serum to get on so well.  Most serums I’ve come across are to be used on dry hair and the thought of risking more product on my hair after the drying process scares me, especially if I don’t have enough time to fix it.  I used it a couple of days ago and it wasn’t as bad as I expected.  I was a little adventurous and used two pumps and I found it to work really well with frizz.  I can't say I'll be reaching for it everyday as I’m still not convinced on the serum side of things but perhaps it will come in handy on a frizzy day.

The Frizz Off Blow Dry Cream is still as great as I remember it to be.  Compared to the original formula, it’s slightly thicker, though it’s a welcomed addition as the original pretty much leaked out as soon as you opened it!  I think it takes a bit of time to figure out the quantities but once you have it right, it makes your hair feel lovely and soft.  I really like that it has heat protection built in too so it’s protecting your hair at the same time.

Last but not least is the 3 Day Frizz Free Hair Extreme Taming Spray, which I’ve previously mentioned in my Festival Haircare Routine post.  The majority of the range is aimed towards having really soft, frizz free hair but this one is a little different.  The taming spray aims to make your hair weatherproof which is great if you're hair goes frizzy the moment it rains like mine does.  I find it gives a lot more texture to the hair and holds the hair in place, it’s definitely something you'd want to use before a festival or camping trip.

Phew! If you’re still reading, well done you! Obviously you don't need every single product from the range but I definitely think there’s something for everyone.  If I had to choose, my favourites would be Extreme Taming Spray, Miracle Worker with Argan Oil, Frizz Off Blow Dry Cream and the Intense Recovery Mask along with the shampoo and conditioner.  It’s a really lovely range and I'm sure you'll all enjoy it!
