Illamasqua Speckle Nail Polish

Illamasqua Speckle Nail Polish

It’s no secret that I'm addicted to buying nail polish, you only have to look at our archive to see that! I think in terms of creativity and innovation, nail polish has definitely been pushing boundaries over the past few years.  We've seen magnetic, glitter, matte, shatter.. and yet I'm always amazed with what these brands come up with next.  Don't get me wrong, I love a quick and simple nail polish shade but theres something a little bit more special about the others.  Illamasqua is definitely a brand I would associate with creativity.  Their past collections such as Theatre of the Nameless and Human Fundamentalism definitely inspired me during my fashion degree projects but the newest collection, I’mperfection, is definitely one of their best yet.

The fashion and beauty world does have a slight reputation for being quite exclusive and about achieving perfection but the I’mperfection range is all about embracing your so called “flaws” and making the most of them.  To celebrate what makes you unique.

The speckled nail polishes are inspired by the look of bird eggs and in my opinion could represent freckles on your face.  The pastel shades of the range make them quite similar to the look of Cadburys mini eggs too, which makes the range perfect for spring and easter.  I did have a packet of mini eggs to photograph with the range, but I seem to have ate them all, bad blogger.

I decided to play it safe and go for Speckle, which is a pastel, lilac purple shade and Fragile, a soft sky blue shade.  As interesting as the other colours were, they weren't shades which I could imagine I'd get much use out of.

When I initially tried Fragile, I thought it would take quite a few coats or maybe a white undercoat to make the colours stand out but luckily it only took 2 coats for it to be completely opaque.  The staying power is very good in my opinion, I put it to the test and I lasted about 5 days until the nail polish started to chip.  This was without a clear topcoat, so it would probably last even longer with one!  The brush is the perfect size for positioning the speckles just right and if you have tiny nails like me, the application is extremely easy!

I’d highly recommend the Speckle nail polish range.  It is pricey at £14.50 each I won't lie but for the effect you get and the quality I think it’s worth investing in.

They're lovely aren't they! I've built about 4 sets of furniture today and not one has chipped so that is reason alone to get them! Thanks Danniella - Sami xxx

The fact that they look like mini eggs is the reason I want them! I keep meaning to go to the Illasmasqua store in Leeds but I'm so lazy :P I better skedaddle!
