L'Oreal Preference Wild Ombre Brush-on Dip Dye Kit

L'Oreal Preference Wild Ombre Brush-On Dip Dye Kit

Recently i’ve been going through a bit of a hair rut.  Same old style, same old colour.  I decided that I’d try something a little bit more adventurous and go back to ombre hair.  Ombre hair is basically a technique where you dye the ends of your hair lighter than the rest so it has a sort of laid back look.

I’ve had Ombre hair before using a simple highlighting kit but recently L’Oreal have noticed how popular the hair trend has become and introduced the Preference Wild Ombre Brush-On Dip Dye Kit* which includes a special brush to achieve the Ombre look at home.

I think the brush is a great addition as it allows you to brush through your hair and distribute the dye evenly throughout the hair so you’re not left with a harsh line where the dye is placed.

I have long, layered hair so I found it best to pin back the shorter layers and focus on the long layers so the dye would look natural on my hair.  Next I separated my hair into two sections and used a hair tie to match up where I wanted the dye to start.  After mixing the solution I put the dye solution on the brush and brushed through to distribute the dye then once the dye had covered all the hair I cut off the hair ties and used whatever was left on the brush to brush the top of where the dye was placed for a natural line.

As I’d just dyed my hair a dark brown colour before using this kit, I decided to only leave the dye on for the minimum amount of time, which was around 25-30 minutes.  I wanted the colour change to be quite natural, like a light brown shade so if you want a more blonde effect I’d recommend you leave it on for around 40 minutes or so.

The dye was extremely easy to wash out and my hair didn't feel too damaged after the whole process which is a huge bonus!

I’m really happy with the results and if you'd like to try out the Ombre look at home i'd highly recommend this kit.

I was recently sent some information about a new campaign called Colour With Confidence which highlights the importance of performing allergy tests every time you use a hair colourant.  Please have a look at the website, theres a lot of great advice, safety tips and it’s really interesting to read!
