Silverburn Student Fashion Competition

This week we were lucky enough to be invited by Silverburn shopping centre to be judges of their student fashion competition alongside the lovely Claire from Bee Waits For No One.  Six talented students from the Fashion Business and Fashion Branding courses from Glasgow Caledonian University were asked by Topshop to put together three full outfits to fit in with 3 categories - a day look, an evening look and the perfect look for a big night out! There was an impressive £200 Silverburn gift-card for the winner and a £50 one for the runner up, so the pressure was on!

As fashion students ourselves studying the same course, we were really excited to see what the girls would pull together from all the amazing choices in Topshop. Our task was to walk round and view each girls finished look, giving them the chance to explain a little but about why they chose the particular pieces they did and a little about themselves too.  This was so interesting and we definitely came away with a few styling tips (and a rather large wishlist for our winter wardrobes)!

It was extremely difficult trying to choose a winner in the end but after much discussion we decided Nicole (see above) would be the winner as she really thought of each of the outfits she chose as being a whole head to toe look, including great accessories and make-up, which of course is always going to go down well with us, being beauty bloggers and all!

The runner up, Amy (see above) pulled together outfits which were chic and classic and made us want to go and buy the full outfit then and there.

After the competition ended we got a chance to see the new makeup collection Topshop had introduced on the day, the Dark Side of Nude Collection.  The range is dark and ‘vamp’ inspired with a hint of sparkle. We both loved the Panther nail polish, the Eye Palette in Prism and the Lipstick in shade Fawn.

Silverburn is a great shopping destination filled with all the best places to get your hands on some great fashion and beauty buys! We love the Topshop here, especially all the staff members who make us feel so welcome and really show a great passion and knowledge for the brand!  Make sure you stop by Debenhams too, they’ve just officially opened the new MAC store, how exciting!

We’d just like to thank the lovely people at Silverburn, Jennifer at O’Leary PR and Topshop for giving us the chance to don our best judging skills and be part of such an exciting opportunity!
