Birthday Makeup

21st Birthday Makeup

Hi everyone! I thought I would do a quick post on the makeup I wore at my birthday.  I decided to keep it quite casual and glowy, sort of my everyday look turned into a nighttime look.

For foundation I used my favourite, Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions.  It’s really long lasting and with a touch of MAC Fix+ it stayed put all night.  I don’t usually use concealer during the day as my foundation covers everything without needing to use it but I thought I’d use a little around the eye area to cover any dark circles I have.  My concealer of choice was Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer because its really good around the eye area.

I didn’t use any bronzer because I’m terrible at putting it on and I already had fake tan on (yes i’m that pale!) so I didn’t think it was necessary.  I used a simple blusher such as the Boots Natural Collection Blush in Peach Melba.  The colour compliments most makeup looks so it would go with anything else I put on.  I added a simple highlight on the cheek with MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Soft & Gentle.  As someone who has oily skin I find it a bit too much to put all over my skin so just a subtle glow to the cheekbones really worked well.

After my face makeup is done I head over to the eye area.  Ever since I dyed my hair a bit darker I find I look better if I fill my eyebrows in so the hair colour looks more natural.  I use the HD Brows Palette and simply fill in my eyebrows with the powder and an angled brush and i’m good to go! Applying eyeshadow is probably the most difficult part for me.

Nars India Song Eyeshadow

When I apply eyeshadow you can see in the photos that when my eyes are open it looks like I have none on so I tend not to spend too much time putting it on.  I decided to use a single eyeshadow from the Nars Modern Love Palette called India Song.  The swatch on the picture above is only the eyeshadow, no primers or anything so the pigmentation is absolutely amazing.  For mascara I used my trusty Clinique High Impact Mascara.

To finish it off my makeup, I apply my lipstick.  I decided a MAC lipstick with an Amplified finish would be the best option for a long lasting, bold look.  This one I chose is Vegas Vault, one of Lisa’s favourite MAC lipsticks too.  Vegas Vault is a lovely pink/coral shade which is perfect for summer and is a really good inbetween finish between a matte and cremesheen in my opinion.

And finally once the makeup is complete I apply the Collection 2000 Nail Polish in BMX Bandit.  For an inexpensive nail polish, this one lasts so well so i’d really recommend it if you’re ever in Boots and feel like treating yourself to a few new shades.
