My Skincare Routine

I’d love to start this post by saying that I have lovely normal skin, however I can’t.  I have oily, uneven and pore mad skin that needs nothing more than to be kept tightly under lock and key or else it will go wild and i’ll resemble a teenage boy.

So on that positive note, I thought I’d do a post on my skincare, If I’m being good and I’m sticking to this routine then me and my skin are the best of friends as it remains matte, clear and healthy, however if i decide to have a rebellious phase then I will most definitely pay the price.

My Skincare Routine

I’ve always liked to use a facial wash in the morning as it leaves me feeling fresh and really helps to wake me up, for the past few months I’ve been using the Avon Anew 2 in 1 revitalising gel cleanser. This is a really good cleanser which has little blue bursting beads and really cleans deep into the skin to leave you feeling really fresh and energised. It’s soap and oil free and claims to have toning elements inside too. My skin looks really healthy and glowy after I use this and the smell is very pleasant too. I just pop a small amount onto fingers and massage into my skin then rinse off with luke warm water. I was sent the trial size of this product by Avon but have since repurchased the full 125ml for £7.50 as I loved it so much.

I heavily rely on toner as I’ve got quite oily skin and large pores so Clarins Toning lotion with iris for combination/oily skin is perfect for me, its a soft floral alcohol free formula that purifies and moisturises and most importantly keeps my pores in check. A little of this goes a long way, so just a few drops on some cotton wool swept all over the face is more than enough to see the benefits.

I’ve only recently started using an eye cream as in the last 3 months my eyes have started looking quite tired and puffy. I also get the odd mild case of milia so always felt quite nervous as I know that some eye products can aggravate this. Avon Anew Rejuvenate 24hr eye cream is cleverly sectioned into a day and a night section, so is really 2 eye creams in one. I’ve not noticed any miracles from using this, but the puffiness is certainly gone and the skin around my eyes feels soft and there has been no bad breakouts of milia, so all very positive. I was sent this eye cream by Avon and its £16, which for me is quite pricey for an eye cream, so I’m unsure if id repurchase this but ill definitely use it up.

Lastly is my new little miracle worker, this product has really impressed me. Garnier Even & Matte Daily Moisturiser is an oil free moisturiser that claims to even skin tone, eradicate shine and reduce dark marks, and boy does this baby work! Packed full of lovely stuff like lemon essence and clay, this doubles up as a brilliant primer as its so smoothing and mattifying. You can use this morning and evening but I personally only use it in the morning as it is such a strong formula. The main thing though is when using this you MUST wear an SPF on your face, as some of the ingredients make your skin more sensitive to the sun. This was an absolute bargain at only £2.49 for 40ml there is no question that I will be repurchasing this.

My Skincare Routine

The toner and eye cream as just as before here. I have very sensitive eyes, the slightest thing sets them off on a tearing puffy frenzy so when it comes to eye makeup remover I need something strong but sensitive. Clarins gentle eye-makeup remover is a super gentle oil free formulation that removes every trace of makeup and conditions the lashes, what more could I ask for?

A product I’ve raved about before and have dedicated a full post to is my Clarins Cleansing Milk with Gentain for Combination/Oily Skin this is a velvety light textured milk that has a PH balance very similar to the skins and removes every trace of makeup and leaves my skin soft and radiant. I dont think I’ll ever use any other cleanser. I just pop a small amount onto my fingers and work into my skin and then remove with a muslin cloth and then repeat once my makeups been removed.

Finally, this is another product that was sent to me by the lovely people at Avon. The Anew Clinical Lift & Firm Serum is designed to firm skin and leave it looking flawless, I apply one pump to my skin every night and wake up every morning with beautiful glowy firm skin. As this is quite an expensive product £29.00 30ml and is designed for firming and lifting I’m unsure if id repurchase as I am only 21 but I will really enjoy using this up and have already looked into purchasing the brightening version of this.

My Skincare Routine

These are my additional products that I don’t use everyday but my skin could not live without.

Firstly my Smiths Rosebud Salve is my saviour for blemishes, irritation or my occasional rogue dry patches, this is a perfect all rounder for lips, skin, nails and everything else.

When it comes to exfoliation I need something industrial! And the St Ives Apricot Blemish Fighting Scrub works wonders for my skin, I only use this once or twice a week as it is pretty harsh, if you have sensitive skin please do not use this! A little goes a long way and the smell is gorgeous. Its harsh enough to remove oil dirt and dead skin but gentle enough not to irritate or break me out.

Finally my current face mask is the Avon Solutions Plus Total Radiance mask this creamy mask sits on the skin for 10 minutes and when wiped off leaves the skin bright, fresh and smooth, its in no way blemish fighting or oil clearing, its simply just to hydrate and brighten and I love it. I got this a while back in an Avon clearance sale for £1.99 and its lasted me very well. I use this no more than once a week.

So there you go guys it seems like I use loads but it really only takes me a few minutes in the morning and evening. I’m happy with where my skin is at the moment and I do feel that these products help, also all the usual additional things like drinking water and vitamins and what not help, but if I were to advise you on only one thing it would be to cleanse!
